curiosity killed the cat

^{Poking his head into the medicine den, Saltkit looked around warily, nose twitching. He'd always had an interest in herbs, and he'd finally decided to check out the den. "Lilypads?" the tuxedo tom called softly.}

The tortie feline was bent over her stock, sorting determinedly through the herbs in an attempt to see just how low she really was. When normally the she-cat would stock up on medicines before the first of winter, a horrible frost had come and killed off just about everything. Lilypads hadn't been able to do her early collecting before the frost and after it not much had been left at all.

Sitting back with a heavy sigh she glanced at what she had left. Perhaps the other clans would share what they had if she needed it? Which she hoped she didn't...

Hearing her name she turned, blinking green eyes up at the kitten. "Well hello there," she meowed softly. "What can I do for you?"

Scanning the supply of herbs through his watchful blue eyes, Saltkit took a moment before answering the medicine cat. Eyes unblinking, the young tom looked up at the female. "Do you need any help?" he asked brightly.

[Elmo]

The tortie had a soft spot for kits and so it was no surprise when she nodded her head, "of course Saltkit, come on in."

Lilypads scooted over a bit to make room for the younger cat, turning her eyes back to her stock and the piles she'd already sorted through. "I'm just taking count of what herbs I have and what I need," she explained. "I'll have to make a run to get more herbs... might need to visit another clan to borrow some..."

He smiled, padding in. Saltkit nodded as the medicine cat spoke. "I don't think Rushstar will like that," the tom warned her. "I can help you, too, if you'd like," he offered.

[Elmo]

The medicine cat purred, "no, he probably won't but he can't stop me." After all the medicine cats were above silly clan disputes, for the most part. The others would help her, she was certain of it and she would ask them on the next meeting.

Forcing her attention back to the kit she smiled, "that would be lovely Saltkit."

"What do you need me to do?" he asked happily, flicking his thin tail. Saltkit thought about the she-cat's words. He didn't want to get caught in all the fighting amongst the clans. Being a medicine cat seemed much better for him.
