If one were to peek there head inside the cool reaches of Windclans medicine den they would see the familiar, spotted tabby coat of the clans medicine cat. Darting back and forth, muttering under her breath the whole way.
By some stroke of bad luck she'd been charged with watching a few rambunctious kits for a few hours. It had started out fine enough, even though she'd been weary of the young things. But as soon as they had become bored they'd taken to 'resorting' her herbs. Now her whole den was a mess and she was hurrying her pelt off trying to get it all into rights once more.
"Kits, I swear I'm never having kits..." Spottedcoat muttered, voice trailing off once more.

Ears pricked, Planetarykit padded into the den. "Do you need help, Spottedcoat?" the silver tabby asked politely, shuffling her paws. She knew that her denmates had been in here earlier, and it looked like the entire Shadowclan had swept through the den, since all the herbs were everywhere.

The voice clearly startled the medicine cat who, after hearing the voice, jumped up with a hiss. She put herself to rights however when she realized it wasn't danger just another kit. Oh great. Forcing a smile on her muzzle the spotted calico meowed, "sorry about that, Planetarykit, you startled me."
At his offer to help she felt a wave of weariness nearly overwhelm her. Spottedcoat wasn't sure if help from another kit was what she needed... "Sure, of course you can."

Planetarykit flinched when the medicine cat hissed in surprise; Spottedcoat's reaction had caught her off guard. Nodding in thanks, the silver female padded over, aware that the older feline was edgy because of the kit stampede. "I'll try not to mess everything up," she promised quietly.

At least Planetarykit was older, nearly apprentice aged now, and could actually understand what "no" and "don't touch anything" meant. Forcing herself to relax the torbie calico sighed heavily, leaning back against the cool den wall.
It wasn't hard to notice that the medicine cat was a worrier, as well as a bit stressed. Most likely it was due to her advanced age but at heart she was young, not the ten years she actually was. It wasn't often cats became her age in the wild but... with good medicine one could do almost anything. "Well then," she meowed, "you could start by picking up all those black seeds and putting them into that leaf over there."

She nodded, smiling, and looked down at the den floor in search of the seeds Spottedcoat was talking about. "Sure thing," Planetarykit mewed.
As she snuffled at the seeds, the silver kitten realized that she'd seen the medicine cat use them before. "What are these seeds called?" Planet asked curiously.

Almost absentmindedly the spotted she-cat answered, "those are poppy seeds." Her thoughts had shifted to the days chores and what herbs the clan needed the most, before any heavy snow let in and ruined her chances to getting any.
"They are used to help with pain and enough of them can help with sleep," she added, finally turning her eyes back to the kit.

"That's interesting," she mewed brightly, opening up to the medicine cat. That was like her, to start of quiet and shy, then become progressively more talkative. Flicking her silvery tail, Planetarykit gathered the black seeds into a pile and looked up at Spottedcoat. "Finished, I think!"

Having turned to sorting through some of her other herbs, the spotted medicine cat twisted back around to face kitten. "Good," she meowed. "Now perhaps you can come over here and take out this cobwebs. They are ruined now and can't be used."
Which was a shame. She'd certainly have to talk to the mothers of those kits.

"Sure!" Ears pricked, she scampered over and grabbed the sticky web with her jaws, beginning to pull them out of the herb store, although she quickly got tangled.
